SUMMARY:Bayliss & Seal and Amit Dattani
DESCRIPTION:Two fantastic artists will wow you this evening\, both are return visits to our stage\, their previous performances very much enjoyed by our audience\n  \nFirst we have 21st century folk -inspired music from Joe Bayliss & Mike Seal. \nIn an era saturated with highly produced\, multi co-writer music\, the raw\, unvarnished artistry of a true singer-songwriter can feel like a breath of fresh air. \nMike Seal & Joe Bayliss\nJoe Bayliss with Mike Seal\, are firmly planted in this esteemed tradition\, delivering a collection of songs that are as introspective as they are universally relatable. \nBayliss possesses a vocal quality that is immediately captivating; a warm\, slightly weathered timbre that conveys a depth of emotion without resorting to overt theatrics. There’s an authenticity in his delivery\, a sense that every lyric is pulled directly from lived experience. He navigates melodies with a gentle precision\, allowing the natural ebb and flow of his voice to carry the narrative. \nMike Seal on upright bass\, lays a strong foundation for Joe’s melody\, adding depth and richness. Precise rhythms and melodic insight create a backdrop that allows Joe’s vocals and delicate guitar to truly bite through. \n  \n…A wonderful vocalist and sensitive guitar player with original songs complimenting his style. His amiable chat between songs made it feel like a carpet had been placed on the stone floor! \nSOUL SESSIONS \n…stunning performance. Beautifully crafted and performed songs that reach for your heart\, but the humour and open conversation between songs pulls you in.\n\nLUDLOW FOLK \n…. If you’re never heard Joe sing \, make the effort and go to one of his gigs\, His soft mellow speaking voice transcends into his vocal performance\, to a soft\, yet punctuated high tenor that’s barely a whisper \, but can be heard in the back of the room \, And in contrast\, his baritone – vibrato rich and full\, resounds in your chest as you listen….A headline act that can grace any venue in the country. \nBIRCH & STOCK FOLK \nMike Seal on upright bass\, lays a strong foundation for Joe’s melody\, adding depth and richness. Precise rhythms and melodic insight create a backdrop that allows Joe’s vocals and delicate guitar to truly bite through \nCOPPICE COMMUNITY MUSIC \n….I can listen to Joe all day…a great storyteller whose songs paint great pictures in your imagination\, whilst his voice takes you on a soothing journey. He’s also one of the nicest people you will ever meet… \nRED LION FOLK \n  \nJoe’s 6th studio album—GRACE was launched in January 2025\, Joe’s previous album: FRAGILE \, has been critically acclaimed as ‘compelling’\, ‘sensitive’ \, ’thought-provoking’. \nhttps://joebayliss.bandcamp.com/album/fragile \nhttps://youtu.be/6eoMVZglXgs \nwww.joe-bayliss.com \nhttps://www.facebook.com/joe.bayliss2 \n  \nSecond\, Amit Dattani. \n  \nAmit Dattani is a singer songwriter known for his unique brand of roots-driven guitar and striking lyrical originality. Behind his raconteur spirit lies superb musicianship\, nimble finger-picking and a versatility which has garnered a strong reputation on the live circuit\, with over ten years performing across the UK and Europe under his belt.  \n  \n#image_title\nHis wry lyrics\, mellifluous guitar and warm vocals come to the fore with his most recent release\, Santiago – a collection of stripped back songs with just guitar and voice\, garnering attention from the likes of Americana UK and fRoots\, radio play on BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 2 and a nomination for ‘Best Folk Act’ from the BMA Awards. \n  \nAmit has shared the stage with the likes of Charlie Parr\, John Smith\, Blind Boy Paxton\, Willy Vlautin\, Kathryn Williams and Mark Morris \n  \n\n“Echoes of John Fahey and Leo Kottke” – Roots and Branches \n\n  \n\n“Just a fantastic picker!” – Charlie Parr \n\n  \n\n“Simple\, sincere and authentic” – Folking \n\n  \n\n“This is among the year’s finest debut albums” – Folk Radio UK \n\n  \n\n“Terrific country blues – recommended” – fRoots \n\n  \n\n“His deft touch and warm\, gentle vocals take the listener on one enjoyable journey after another” – Flyin Shoes \n\n  \n\n“It has been a while since a master musician such as Amit Dattani has reminded us of just how full a sound one man with one guitar can create” – Blues Matters \n\n  \n\n“Each song is a nugget in a seam of precious stuff\, hand hewn and lovingly put together” –AmericanaUK \n\n  \nwww.amitdattanimusic.com \n \n  \nTickets: £10.00 (Advance)\, £12.00 (On the door) \n

SUMMARY:Three Men in a Boat
DESCRIPTION:From Giles Shenton Productions and Stratford Theatre Company comes Three men in a Boat. \nDirected by Simon Downing \nAdapted from the splendid book by Jerome K Jerome by Simon Downing & Giles Shenton \nWith Giles Shenton (Old Herbaceous & My Dog’s Got No Nose) as Jerome \n \nJoin Jerome as he recounts the hilarious story of his boating holiday along the magnificent River Thames with his two companions and Montmorency the dog. Come and join in the fun as Giles Shenton expertly takes the helm and pilots you through the ridiculous tale of men behaving badly while messing about in boats! \n“George got out his banjo after supper\, and wanted to play it\, but Harris objected: he said he had got a headache and did not feel strong enough to stand it. George thought the music might do him good—said music often soothed the nerves and took away a headache; and he twanged two or three notes\, just to show Harris what it was like.  \nHarris said he would rather have the headache.”  \n“There are a few seriously funny books that remain great for all time. Three Men in a Boat is one of these” The Guardian \n“Timeless appeal” The Independent \n“Pitch-perfect comedy about\, well\, three men in a boat” The Telegraph \n“Skilfully distilled from Jerome K. Jerome’s comic masterpiece into 95 minutes of pure delight. To those who wondered if the same team could live up to the earlier success of Old Herbaceous\, the answer was an emphatic yes. A master class in confidence\, stagecraft and delivery.” Opening Night Review \n“The nearest thing to “audio slapstick” I’ve ever heard\, culminating in the sublime comedy of opening a tin\, when you’ve forgotten the tin opener. It is not often that you come out of a theatrical performance feeling like you’ve been sharing happy and hilarious times\, safe from a cruel world & wrapped in a warm blanket.” Vera Fletcher Review \nGiles Shenton “creates an instant rapport with the audience\, drawing us into his world and making the characters in it so real we feel you have known them forever. ” Edinburgh Fringe Review

SUMMARY:Gren Bartley
DESCRIPTION:Gren Bartley is a UK-based composer and songwriter creating emotionally resonant\, story-driven music. With a background in folk and world music\, Gren blends organic instrumentation with cinematic textures to craft distinctive\, versatile soundscapes that enhance narrative and atmosphere. \n \nHaving composed for award-winning theatre productions\, BBC radio and television\, and self-released albums\, Gren brings a deep understanding of how music connects with character\, setting\, and emotion. His work spans genres — from delicate acoustic themes and atmospheric underscore to rhythmically driven pieces ideal for trailers or advertising. \n  \n \n  \n2024 saw the long awaited new album from Gren Bartley. Two years in the making\, “Unfold” expands further and deeper into the cinematic folk genre. Somewhere between R.E.M.s Automatic for the People and Nick Drake’s Five Leaves Left\, Bartley has found something entirely of it’s own mind. \n  \nHis 2015 album ‘Magnificent Creatures’ (***** R2 magazine) was given outstanding reviews. With production by Birmingham based Gavin Monaghan (Robert Plant\, Ryan Adams\, Nizlopi\, Ocean Colour Scene etc…)\, the record built on the “constantly outstanding” (fRoots) quality of his previous two records. The album took Gren and his music around the world performing at festivals and venues. \n  \n \nIn 2019 Gren turned to a more stripped back sound of solo performance and wrote and arranged a new album of tunes and songs exploring his love of world music and bottleneck slide guitar. Gren released the new album “Quiet” (***** Northern Sky magazine) to excellent reviews. \n  \n  \nGren Bartley is part of the future of melodic songwriting. Forever evolving and adapting\, and with unmatched guitar work\, he is a modern day troubadour\, using his influences from older folk and world music traditions\, to create truly astounding records. He brings something new and unique to his audience. He is an artist not to be missed. \n  \n★★★★★ – BCR Radio\n★★★★★ – Northern Sky \n★★★★★ – R2 Magazine \n★★★★★ – Northern Monkey \n  \n“He’s invented his own kind of music… and everything about it is class” – BBC Radio \n“Constantly outstanding songwriting” – fRoots \n“Astounding” – KLOF Magazine \n“This chap has a gift” – Living Tradition Magazine \n \n“Will be heard more often once people realise just how good he is” – Northern Sky \n  \nAdmittance: £12.00 (Advanced) – £14.00 (On the door) \n  \n \n \n
