SUMMARY:Jack Goodall and SAMduo
DESCRIPTION:A welcome back to Bromsgrove’s Jack Goodall\, this year he will be supported by the equally fantastic SAMduo\n  \n \nJack Goodall performs his own kind of music\, contemporary yet inspired by an array of different artists. Having studied under and jammed with blues performers Ian Siegal and Aynsley Lister and Afrobeat star Dele Sosimi\, Jack displays these stylistic influences in his own music while melodically and lyrically very much doing his own thing. He has toured the UK\, Ireland and Canada playing both solo and with Canadian band The Hoop\, formed during his time as a student in Windsor\, Ontario. \nAs well as releasing three solo albums\, in 2021 Goodall released Out Of Here with The Kick\, a band formed during lockdown\, who became a formidable force at live shows. \nGoodall’s most recent solo album\, Ort forges ahead with the kind of infectious afrobeat demonstrated in No Reply but also delves into a wide array of sounds influenced not only by the likes of Fela Kuti and Curtis Mayfield but Eurythmics and John Cale. \nAs well as his own music he’s also played on and produced David Freja’s record Strom and another upcoming Freja album\, plus releases by Karen Swan\, Dominic Hyde and Wildflower. In 2018 he also worked with theatre company Extant and Birmingham’s REP providing the music for the play/multi-sensory experience The Sense Of You. \n  \n“Beautiful music\, I love it”  – Guy Garvey\, Elbow\, BBC 6 Music \n“The best live act in the West Midlands\, 2019”  – Songwall \n“Awesome”  – Boris Palekh\, Gogol Bordello and Hey Guy \n  \nSandra and Martin from SAM Photo credit Jo Allen\nSupporting JACK GOODALL will be SAMduo: Mood exploration. Songs from the heart. \nMartin and Sandy from SAM band will be performing songs drawing on their love of blues\, classic soul\, jazz and singer songwriter genres. They present an intriguing and truly mixed set of covers and quality originals with soulful vocals and a variety of moods and grooves. Moody\, fun\, entertaining and entirely accessible\, SAM are a must see act. \nFind out more about SAM on:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SAMBandUK \nWebpage: https://360-vision.art/SAM/index.htm \n  \nAdmittance: £8.00 (Advanced) – £10.00 (On the door) \n  \n

If you like the music of T Bone Walker\, Gatemouth Brown\, Slim Harpo\, Lazy Lester etc.\, you’ll love this Band of top Midlands based musicians.  They capture the groove and feel of the original music and add their own twist to create a vibe that will have you itching to dance\, just as the audiences did back in the day. \nDuring the evening the band will be offering free introductory dance lessons for beginners\, to help you move in time with the beat. \nVee Jay King and his Dukes are: \nJohn Roy Potter – Guitar and Vocals. \nJohn has played either guitar or bass in a wide variety of styles since the 1970s\, pausing only to sleep and drink. He has played all across the UK\, Ireland and Europe with bands as diverse as Special Clinic (Folk Rock)\, The Wide Boys (Reggae/Ska)\, The Toy Hearts (Bluegrass and Western Swing)\, King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys (Jump Blues and Swing)\, and more recently\, Ricky Cool and The In Crowd (60s R&B and Bluebeat/Ska)\, and Steve ‘Big Man’ Clayton (Boogie-Woogie). He has a tendency to dribble. \nRicky Cool – Vocals\, Harmonica and Saxophone. \nRicky Cool first burst onto the scene in the 1970’s\, when Ricky Cool and the Icebergs became one of the first bands in the country to play swing style rhythm and blues\, The name soon became established and Ricky’s reputation for delivering great\, danceable music in a highly entertaining\nway began. Since then he has fronted and played with a number of bands presenting authentic American music. He co-founded The Big Town Playboys\, the band that nurtured the talent of Mike Sanchez. He worked with Robert Plant in the first Honeydrippers line up. Ricky is regarded as one of the finest exponents of Blues and Country style harmonica in the UK and as such he still occasionally works with Mike Sanchez and also with UK blues star Big Boy Bloater. He has played on recordings by Hank Wangford\, Matchbox\, Mike Sanchez and even toured with Billy Connolly as can be seen on the ‘Billy Connolly Bites Your Bum’ DVD. \nChris Lomas – Bass and Vocals. \nIn a 50+ year career Chris’s journey has taken him from Nechells to Nashville via Nuremberg to Northampton. He has a reputation\, based mainly\, on longevity and association\, but also a simple\, solid\, in the pocket style that he successfully bought to Dave Berry & The Cruisers\, Jealous Girl\, The Kind\, The Mighty Houserockers\, Rang–A-Tang\, Jean Vincent\, Circuit Judge\, Karen Lynn Johns & The New Age Cowboys\, The Bushbury’s\, Parker’s Alibi\, Memphis In The Meantime\, Steve ‘Big Man’ Clayton\, Mojo Buford\, Big George Brock\, Buzzin’ Hornets\, Mumbo-Jumbo\, The Jaguars\, Ian Parker Band and many\, many more\, both live and in the studio. Chris has also had success as a songwriter and producer\, both in the US and the UK\, but not enough to be able to retire\,\nso. \nHoward Smith – Drums and Vocals. \nHoward has been a stalwart of the Midlands’ music scene for the last forty years. His drumming is not flashy\, he’s dependable\, a solid sender. He establishes the groove and he keeps it. He’s adept in all the main musical genres: Blues\, R&B\, Country and Jazz and is the drummer to call if you want a groove that swings. Howard has toured extensively throughout Europe from Cork in the West to Corfu in the East\, Murmansk in The North to Cadiz in the South. He’s held a long residency on live TV\, performed on Radio and completed too many recording sessions to itemise. SUMMARY:Three Men in a Boat
DESCRIPTION:From Giles Shenton Productions and Stratford Theatre Company comes Three men in a Boat. \nDirected by Simon Downing \nAdapted from the splendid book by Jerome K Jerome by Simon Downing & Giles Shenton \nWith Giles Shenton (Old Herbaceous & My Dog’s Got No Nose) as Jerome \n \nJoin Jerome as he recounts the hilarious story of his boating holiday along the magnificent River Thames with his two companions and Montmorency the dog. Come and join in the fun as Giles Shenton expertly takes the helm and pilots you through the ridiculous tale of men behaving badly while messing about in boats! \n“George got out his banjo after supper\, and wanted to play it\, but Harris objected: he said he had got a headache and did not feel strong enough to stand it. George thought the music might do him good—said music often soothed the nerves and took away a headache; and he twanged two or three notes\, just to show Harris what it was like.  \nHarris said he would rather have the headache.”  \n“There are a few seriously funny books that remain great for all time. Three Men in a Boat is one of these” The Guardian \n“Timeless appeal” The Independent \n“Pitch-perfect comedy about\, well\, three men in a boat” The Telegraph \n“Skilfully distilled from Jerome K. Jerome’s comic masterpiece into 95 minutes of pure delight. To those who wondered if the same team could live up to the earlier success of Old Herbaceous\, the answer was an emphatic yes. A master class in confidence\, stagecraft and delivery.” Opening Night Review \n“The nearest thing to “audio slapstick” I’ve ever heard\, culminating in the sublime comedy of opening a tin\, when you’ve forgotten the tin opener. It is not often that you come out of a theatrical performance feeling like you’ve been sharing happy and hilarious times\, safe from a cruel world & wrapped in a warm blanket.” Vera Fletcher Review \nGiles Shenton “creates an instant rapport with the audience\, drawing us into his world and making the characters in it so real we feel you have known them forever. ” Edinburgh Fringe Review
